Fort Collins Colorado Photographer | Glancing back to 2013

It's hard for me to believe its the year 2014. After all the hype from the new year, settling down into the new, carrying on with the old, and finally deciding which of my New Year's resolutions were actually going to last through more than the month of January, I couldn't help but think back to the year of 2013. A year that brought me, a Fort Collins Colorado photographer  more than I could have ever imagined.

At a glance:

  • I began my journey in Colorado. I applied to an internship with Jenni Maroney Portrait Boutique. That little short-term internship had more in store for me than I thought, as I have continued working (aside from Miranda L. Sober Photography) for this amazing photographer for the past year. From an intern, to the studio manager + second lead photographer, who would have thought?!
  • Confirmed my forever love of Colorado, as I moved to Arizona, and quickly turned right back around.
  • Developed a deep love for sushi. (I am proud to say I overcame my childhood fear of eating "fish eggs").
  • Became the owner of the one and only Golden Retriever, Remi. He has a mind of his own, let me tell ya.
  • Turned a dream of becoming a photographer into reality and established Miranda L. Sober Photography. (I jump up and down just at the thought)!
  • Learned to focus (an ongoing process) more on the joy in everyday life, putting aside the everyday stress of the world.
  • Have had the opportunity to meet each of you, and develop amazing friendships. And if I have not yet already, I hope to do so this year!

Fort Collins Colorado Photographer | The Simple Things

Levi 093_2 As a Fort Collins Colorado photographer, it's the simple things that make me happy. Simple things like old photographs I find throughout the home I grew up in. There is something about this photograph above that make my heart pound hard, fast, and all together soft and slow. A photograph of my dad, the most amazing father anyone could ask for, who has a heart of gold. A photograph of my younger brother, an angel now in Heaven, one who found joy in other's joy.

This image reflects a moment that will forever be in the past, but because it was captured through a lens, it can be seen forever. It brings me happiness because I can see more than just a dad and son enjoying a picnic in the park. I can see the happiness in their eyes, the love in their smiles. And well this photograph, capturing that sparkle, well that makes me happy.

Fort Collins Colorado Photographer | Chocolate Chip Cookies

If there is one thing I've come to learn at 23, it's that no night can go wrong if it ends with a plate of cookies and hot tea. I can admit, being a top chef  was definitely not my calling. If it's not raw or burnt, I deserve a pat on the back! However, after much practice, I've found one recipe I can master, even as a Fort Collins Colorado photographer. Chocolate Chip Cookies. Baking cookies seems to make the world a better place. Miranda L. Sober Photography

I would love to get together with each of you and chat all about life, enjoying this special cookie. But until that day comes, please enjoy this recipe on me!

You will need:

3/4 cup butter, softened

1/4 cup shortening %

Colorado Photographer | How are You Spending Your Saturday Morning?

How are you spending your Saturday morning? Mine will be spent with a hot cup of coffee, in my slippers, with my furry friend that goes by the name of Remi. As many of you know, by my overload of images on Instagram, I may have a slight obsession with my dog. But really, who can blame me?! As a Colorado photographer, I feel it is only right to document my life with him.

In June of 2013, in a small backyard of a Fort Collins Colorado home, my heart grew 3x it's size. Once I laid eyes on this little man, I knew I had to take him home. Quickly my life-long dream of owning my own golden retriever came true.

I am excited to share with you my many more Remi stories in the future. As for now, I wish you all a wonderful weekend, spent with the ones you hold close, doing what you love most.
