The Bolder Boulder | Miranda L. Sober Photography

That's the thing about running: your greatest runs are rarely measured by racing success.

They are moments in time when running allows you to see how wonderful your life is.

- Kara Goucher

This was my first year ever to participate in the famous Bolder Boulder 10k of Boulder, Colorado. I must say, I was a bit nervous at first, but with a cross country past, I knew I had nothing to worry about. Something about that High School sport brought me to realize so much more about life. It's taught me to believe in myself, and that with hard work and dedication, I can do anything I wish to do.

Before the run, it's always the nervous butterflies, scrambling to make sure your shoes are tied in double knots, and that last deep breath. But as you begin to run, all that worry slips away. Running my first Bolder Boulder with two amazing friends, amongst 52,000 other runners, was an event I will cherish forever. Through the gorgeous landscape, with screaming fans on every side of the street, I realized how truly lucky I am. How lucky I am to live in such a beautiful state, to have such amazing friends by my side every step of the way, and to have two legs and a healthy heart to allow me to run.

Sign me up for next year!

Congratulations to this Colorado Graduate!

Congratulations, Courtney Nicole!

It is hard to believe this gorgeous little sister of mine is celebrating her High School Graduation from Erie High School in Colorado. I swear it was just yesterday we were arguing over who got to be Barbie, and who had to be Ken. Who got to wear the "cuter" Limited Too outfit. Or which of us was gong to braid the other's hair first. You followed my every footstep, and held my hand. Oh, how I miss those days.

But today, I can say you have taught me so much through life. You have helped make me who I am today, always pushing me to follow my dreams. Through everything, (even being left at Chuckie Cheese at the age of 7), you have had the bravest heart. And I admire that more than anything.

I couldn't be more proud of you Court! Enjoy your day. I love you!

Sweet dreams about whatever little puppies dream about

mirandalsober.2014.remi59.FB-7000 He looks so sweet and innocent, laying in the warm sunlight, dreaming about whatever little puppies dream about. However, after this week, I'm not sure I would describe Remi as sweet and innocent. On Monday, Remi decided to play with the one and only dog in the whole dog park that should have been off limits. By the time Remi decided he had had enough pouncing around, he trotted his way to me, covered in blood. As some of you may know, blood freaks me out. So you can imagine my reaction. The owner must have quickly noticed as he ran up to me and explained how he had tried to clip his 5 month old puppy's nails, but happened to cut a little too close. Instead of keeping his bleeding dog at home, the puppy was running free around the dog park, with Remi. My water fearing dog was not easy to bathe afterwards.

Tuesday morning I woke up to a constant Remi cry. Usually when I say the word "up", he'll hop right back onto the bed and sleep. I guess that morning he had different plans, as he continued to cry and cry with his head resting on top the bed, staring. It wasn't until I had enough and rolled out of bed, that he just so happened to stop his whining. I guess he just wanted me up with him and the rising sun.

Remi thought he was the next "Air Bud" on Wednesday, as he bolted straight into a soccer practice at Fossil Creek Park. Even though I was super embarrassed, I couldn't help but laugh as I watched my boyfriend, Shane, running around in circles trying to catch him. Like our dog trainer always said, "never trust a dog off a leash".

It was pouring rain here in Colorado on Thursday. But that didn't cancel Remi's race with the neighborhood rabbit. Once again, he was off. Gone. Bye. See ya later.

To say the least, I was ready for Friday after the long week. What I thought would be a relaxing coffee filled morning, soon turned into a whirlwind of morning glories and potting soil. Scattered across the porch was a Remi constructed mess. If it wasn't for his guilty puppy dog eyes looking right at me, I would have thought Colorado underwent a tornado. If only that were the case...

If there is anything I have learned from this week's events, it's that the movie Marley and Me was no exaggeration, never underestimate the speed of a puppy, and morning glories are not a golden retriever's favorite flower.

Miranda Jean Rinn Memorial mini sessions

Growing up in a small town, it's easy to know everyone you pass by. I've known the Rinn family for some time, as I worked under Jenn during my summer job throughout my college years. There wasn't a day I remember that she didn't wave hello as she drove by, or asked each of my coworkers how they were doing, or simply have a smile on her face. I knew her and her husband had two absolutely adorable little boys, and were soon expecting a little girl on the way.

I will never forget that day of work, asking Jenn about her little bean that would soon be welcomed into the world, the day she told me her name would be, Miranda. Still, now, that makes my heart beat fast.

Miranda Jean Rinn was born on July 1oth, 2011. This gorgeous gift was born without a heartbeat. After the doctor was able to restart her heart, strong little Miranda was able to share 36 hours with her loving parents, and her big brothers, until she returned back home.

I wish to give this family a huge hug, one they can hold onto forever. I can't help but feel a strong bond with each of them, as I know my little brother is watching baby Miranda in Heaven. I can imagine their smiles as they look down at each of us day after day, sending us little reminders here on Earth that we will see them soon.

With many sorrowful hearts, friends continued to ask what they could do to help. This encouraged the Rinn family to start the Miranda Jean Rinn Memorial Fund. The memorial was created to "pay forward" all the support their family received, and still continues to receive. The funds that they earn from donations are gifted to families who are facing mounting financial burdens because of their children's special medical needs. How amazing.

If you are interested in donating to Miranda's memorial, please feel free to do so through Paypal to mirandarinnmemorial@gmail.com

Or by sending a check to: Miranda Rinn Memorial c/o Converse County Bank, Drawer 689, Douglas, WY 82633

These two boys are now big brothers to their gorgeous little sister, Harper Rinn. Her precious, curly haired, giggling self, helps share this family's smiles, love, and happiness.

I have been so grateful to hear their story. A story that is truly their own. As my gift to the Rinn family, while I wish I could do so much more, I would love to provide my love and support.

Miranda L. Sober Photography will be hosting family mini sessions on June 7th and June 8th in Douglas, Wyoming. All sessions are $250, which includes a 20 minute mini session (up to 5 people), a viewing session, and 5 digital images of your choice.

50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Miranda Jean Rinn Memorial. There is limited availability, so be sure to contact me as soon as possible to ensure a session.
